Aliph Jawbone 2 Is The Best Sounding Bluetooth Headset In The World

Friday, May 1, 2009

Well Aliph has listened because the new Aliph Jawbone 2 has laid those negatives to rest. Not only is it smaller and lighter, the Jawbone 2 also has a simpler ear hook design and a fancy new look that leaves its predecessor in the dust. Superior in design, the Aliph Jawbone 2 has left behind its competitors such as Pama, Parrot and Jabra way behind. Though high priced, Aliph gives value for money products, so people are ready to shell out the money. The new Aliph Jawbone 2 is 50 percent smaller than the original, and steps up the noise elimination with DARPA approved Noise Assassin technology. The new headset also offers improved looks, thanks to its textured exterior and touch sensitive buttons, and lasting battery life, with 4 hours of talk time and up to 8 days of standby service.
If you spend any time on your cell phone and are in the market for a new Bluetooth headset, go buy the Aliph Jawbone 2 right now. It took about one week for the Aliph Jawbone 2 to arrive at my house. Now you can connect the Aliph Jawbone 2 to you mobile phone using Bluetooth and you're ready to talk with style.

The Aliph Jawbone 2 is available now in black for $129.99, though silver and gold versions are coming down the pipeline. Now we have a solution to pair with your favorite smartphone or iPhone, and that is the new Aliph Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset. The Aliph Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset with Noise Assassin falls out of my ear, makes it all too easy to hang up on a caller when trying to make sure it's boned against your jaw. I've tried every possible combination of ear hooks and earplugs provided with the unit and none fit properly or comfortably. The only problem I've had with it but Its probably me everyone's different.

When the original Jawbone 2 hit the market at the end of 2006 it was the best sounding Bluetooth headset in the world, with noise cancellation that made all our calls clearer and easier to understand. Unfortunately many people couldn't get the bulky unit to fit quite right, even with the myriad ear pieces and loops included. The New Jawbone supports all the functions that you would expect from a Bluetooth headset to support. Since the Jawbone only has two buttons, you will need to memorize the button combinations that you will regularly use. We were hoping to see Bluetooth 2.0 in this version but this at least gives us something to look forward to in the future.

Not only would I would recommend the Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth Headset but I think it should be the first thing you should buy after buying a phone. That being said, it does require that you position the headset in the right manner on your ear while touching your cheek. Fail to position it correctly can cause static or distortion! Jawbone's Noise Assassin is able to achieve this while other headsets cannot.

Amazon's Kindle 2 - Is it an Interesting Gadget?

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Every tech savvy would have heard the news about Amazon's Kindle 2.0 release last week. Let's look into what the entire buzz is about as it is released today.

Let's first talk about what is this kindle, in favor of non techies who are the beginners for this niche.

"Amazon Kindle is an e-book reader, an embedded system for reading electronic books (e-books), launched in the United States by prominent online bookseller Amazon.com in November 2007. The Kindle was developed by Amazon's Lab126.It uses an electronic paper display and downloads content over Amazon Whisper net using the Sprint EVDO network. The Kindle can be used without a computer, and Whisper net is accessible without any fee."

Now I believe that we have an idea about what a kindle mean? Now let us know what this kindle 2 is.

The newer version of Kindle 2 is an e-book reader has many improvements over its predecessor. Now let us know about the physical structure of it.

It weighs only 10.2 ounces and fits perfectly in your hands. The ergonomics have been improved with change in page-turn button positioning and a new 5-way controller has been added. This device boasts a 25% longer battery life.

Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box and you can charge it with either wall charger or USB cable. It uses Amazon's Whisper net technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (3G) data network to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go and you don't have to pay any wireless bills.

Kindle 2 has enhanced library and holds over 1,500 Books, and best of all, a copy of every book you purchased is backed up online at Amazon.com for you to download anytime again if you want to. It also features black-and-white 6″ screen with sharp and natural glare-free display. Has the new Text-to-Speech feature with both male and female voices in case you get lazy to read.

Other improvements include 20% faster page turns, annotations to text bookmark your last place in the book, full image zoom, personal documents storage, The New Oxford American Dictionary look up, wireless access to Wikipedia, web search, along with some experimental features like a basic web browser and MP3 and pod cast player.

As this kindle 2 is releasing on Feb24th, a lot of business is expected to be done on this kindle 2. In what way?

Actually this kindle 2 sells for $400+ in Amazon. Some people who have confirmed shipping resell their Kindle 2s for profit in hopes that Amazon will not be able to satisfy the demand during the launch (as there are much greater expectations on this device).Something like that actually happened with Sony PRS-505 was released. Supply was much lower than demand and for months after the official launch it sold on eBay for double its retail price and the same the kindle2 is also planned.

Above all do you think this gadget is worthful at that price? You could just get a net book... either way, as e-books aren't cheap! The screen is too small and it will sell out due to hype with limited production. No touch screen, no wi-fi, they eliminated the SD card slot. Overall a laptop PC is cheaper and many times more versatile.

But the fact is that excluding the price of this deal, it's actually a great device, you can browse first chapters of tons of books free, get them delivered wirelessly in seconds, and the new kindles seems to have fixed the navigation and style flaws of the old one and has sped up refresh rate. But the device itself is a nice next step. They can't make it color until eInk perfects the color screen and it's affordable enough to mass produce. Saying things like just buy a laptop complete misses the point of its small size and simplicity, it's supposed to replace a book and disappear in your hand like a book does, not an easy task.

Some people don't want to carry around a bunch of books. They don't want the clutter of having a stack of books in their house. This device can store plenty of books and you can access them all at the touch of a button. No need to travel to the bookstore. The battery life on this is touted at days with wireless on and weeks with it turned off.

Now that we have discussed about the pros and cons on this topic, the answer lies within it whether it is an interesting device or not.

The $359 Kindle 2 is available from Amazon at no extra shipping cost.

Cell Phone Stun Guns - Reach Out and Touch Someone

Monday, February 23, 2009

Cell phone stun guns are one of the best devices for self defense. They do not look like a standard stun gun, have a high voltage, and they are very effective for providing personal protection.

Stun guns were designed to provide personal protection. They are non lethal and they provide self defense for people who may be facing a possible attacker. They are not harmful in any way and cannot kill someone. The biggest problem with stun guns is that people who use them often shove them in their purses or briefcases and when they take it out it is obvious in appearance the person has a stun gun. This can cause an attacker to try to get the device from you and use it against you. Most people carry stun guns in their purse or somewhere it is difficult to get to the device when they need it the most. These are usually cases where the person had the stun gun on them but they never were able to use it for their self defense.

The cell phone stun guns look exactly like real cell phones. They are fantastic because a person can wear the stun gun on their belt with the phone clip attached and it looks completely normal. However, if you should actually go to dial a number on this phone it will be the attacker getting a ton of voltage into their body. They weigh less than a pound and will send about 900,000 volts into the human body. Again, this will not hurt the body permanently but it is enough to disable the assailant physically so that you can get away.

The cell phone stun guns are one of the best options for self defense because they are based on the surprise factor. They can clip on your belt, purse, and you can keep them on the sun visor in your car. They are very easy to use and very effective for protection. Most people have time to grab their cell phones when an attacker approaches but they don't have time to dial 911. You don't have to do anything but pull out the phone and press the button to deliver the volts to the attacker. A criminal will not see it coming but instead think you are trying to call the police.

One thing to keep in mind with stun guns is that you have to physically press the device against the body of the attacker. If the stun gun is not activated long enough they are not always effective if an attacker is under the influence of heavy narcotics or drugs. The body type of the person is always a factor also. The good thing about the cell phone stun gun is that it delivers the largest amounts of volts so it is one of the most effective.

When you use stun guns for self defense an attacker usually knows exactly what one looks like. The appearance may scare off the criminal but if it doesn't he or she may try to get it from you and use it on you. When you use a stun gun that looks like a cell phone or any other device, then this surprises the criminal and allows you to use it more quickly and effectively.

The History of GPS Technology by Mark Etinger

With GPS devices now in millions of cars, cell phones and purses around the country, it is hard to imagine that only a decade ago, the technology was used almost exclusively by large corporations and the military. But time has moved fast for Global Positioning Systems, which makes sense given that the story of GPS' history begins with a measure of time.

It all starts with TIME

GPS technology exists today because scientists sought a way to measure time more accurately than it had ever been measured before. And so, they developed the Atomic Clock, a super-accurate device that measure the time within a billionth of a second.

But the Atomic Clock was not created in order to keep scientists from being late for dinner. They used the accuracy of the clock to test Einstein's theory of relativity as it pertained to time and space.

Using Atomic Clocks to measure time and space

With these atomic clocks, scientists and engineers discovered that there were slight discrepancies in time around the globe. They began to position the clocks everywhere from Mount Everest to the Gobi Desert and then looked for tiny differences in the time in each of the locations. This information helped confirm Einstein's view of the universe and would soon become a key part of satellite technology.

Sputnik and the creation of a military GPS system

When the Russians launched Sputnik in the 1950's, scientists quickly learned that the satellite could be used to track locations on the ground by beaming a signal up to the satellite - and having a response returned to Earth. How that message traveled determined the location of the satellite relative to a point on the planet.

The US Navy soon began launching satellites of their own, and used them in key military actions to help troops engage in the proper battle locations and assist large ships circumnavigating the globe.

After a time, Navy engineers realized that enough satellites, placed in very specific positions with an orbit around the earth, would create a clear picture of our planet - and that this "picture" could be used map out individual points around the globe with stunning accuracy.

Completion of the System

In 1993, it all came together. The United States Navy launched the 24th of 24 carefully placed satellites into orbit - and the Global Positioning System was born. The satellites are positioned in such a way that now anyone with an inexpensive GPS device can locate their position (or another location) anywhere on the planet. And to think, it all began with Einstein and a group of scientists who wanted to find the ultimate measure of time.

Today GPS devices are a useful tool for many Americans. The technology has become very affordable and helps individuals obtain proper directions to their location while using a minimal amount of gas or time. And if someone had told you twenty years ago that GPS technology would be a "hot Christmas gift", chances are you wouldn't have given them the time of day.

Hands-on: Sanyo VPC-WH1 waterproof camcorder

Saturday, February 21, 2009

The Sanyo VPC-WH1 is a waterproof “Dual Camera” that stood out at the product unveiling today. In fact, in some ways its their higher grade one (Sanyo has one other waterproof cam.) Although we didn’t get to dunk it in a pool of water the capabilities featured in the presentation seemed appropriate for consumers and enthusiasts alike.

First off, this VPC-WH1 shoots 1280×720 HD video at 30fps. That means all your underwater video is going to look very good (compared to what’s out there at this level) on both Vimeo and YouTube–providing you have great lighting to accompany you. The VPC-WH1 does not have a video light of any sort, so that means that some of your images may turn out a bit noisy. In this case, Sanyo’s 3D DNR image noise reduction technology won’t be able to help you because the image becomes softer: meaning that whatever you shoot underwater in theory will look even softer than it already might. Additionally, the 2.5-inch LCD (not very high resolution) might not be able to help you out very well. Once again though, we haven’t tried it yet, but I’d recommend finding good lighting.

However, image quality actually looks quite good for this camcorder. The 30x Optical Zoom works very well and its focusing is satisfactory. It can shoot 2MP photos which is good enough for posting online. Additionally, it captures JPEGs at 13fps. In contrast though, many cameraphones shoot higher resolution photos than this–although their sensors aren’t as large. Nonetheless, you may not want to make 8×10 prints of the shots.

What amazed me was the battery life: a whopping 3hrs and 20 minutes. The new Sanyo Li-ion batteries are what makes this possible. That may mean less charging when you and the family are on vacation.

Additionally, the Dual-Camera is very ergonomic and felt great in my hands. It’s very small, and I’m sure that it could fit into a coat pocket.

The “Face Chaser” technology worked well and focused very sharply on the people around me while I was trying it out. Once again though, I would’ve loved to have tried this underwater with people wearing snorkels and facemasks to give it a real test.

Sanyo chose the interesting color of yellow for this camcorder. Perhaps this is so if users drop the camcorder in water it can be found because of its bright color. However, it comes in blue as well, so my theory may not be accurate.

Unlike other cameras and camcorders of this type, Sanyo warns of use in cold locations or in areas with high temperatures/humidity. However, they also say that it can be used for winter sports like skiing or snowboarding. Potential users may want to keep in mind that there is no 60p video recording on this model; so the 30fps will have to suffice for getting those fast moving objects.

Additionally, this camera can be used without fear in the rain. Overall, it seems like the WH1 Dual-Camera will answer the pleas of many consumers. In fact, I think it will accompany a traveler or tourist very well so long as they are shooting with enough light.
